Cary
Jobe Photography specializes in documentary photography.
"To take
photographs is to hold one's breath when all the faculties
converge in the face of fleeing reality. It is at that moment
that mastering an image becomes a great physical and intellectual
joy." - Henri Cartier-Bresson
Cary's passion
for photography stems from her painting background, her
interest in humanitarian efforts throughout the world, while
capturing that fleeting moment that can never be recreated
in a painterly and journalistic fashion. In agreeance with
Bresson who said that "Photography is not important....
it is life that interests me. . . The Adams and Westons
are photographing rocks while the world is going to pieces!"
We are the witnesses to the evolution of the world. From
the beautiful progressions in life (such as weddings) to
the bigger matters that need recognition and awareness.
These are the situations that compel Cary to use her eye
as observer, witness, journalist, and artist to creatively
document those moments that are important to the individual
or the world at large.
Cary Jobe is
a published award winning photographer who shoots internationally.
Once a photojournalist
for the Aspen Times, she now shoots freelance for various
publications ranging from the likes of Skiing Magazine to
the artistic peruser of Rangefinder Magazine. She has just
joined forces with Aurora Quanta Photojournalism Stock Agency
as a contributer.
Cary just returned
from Nepal and India where she was working in conjunction
with Free A Child (www.freeachild.org)
on the issues of Child Trafficking. There she visited many
ex-"sex slaves", both Nepali and Indian. Her focus
was to uncover the stories of these young girls and women,
while showing in images their present life.... not as a
former "sex-slave", but women empowered to live
inspite of all bad odds. Women who teach others how to carry
that integrity and strength into the present. Women who
live life fully with breath. Her hope is to return with
grant money in the next year or two to finish this project
with a writer. For individual donations on this project
